Description
Shelly is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in private practice in Sherman Oaks, California. She works with individuals, couples and families. Her approach to therapy is grounded in Postmodern Narrative Therapy which emphasizes client strengths in the collaborative creation of a client's preferred life. Her areas of specialization include divorce and blended families, child and adolescent therapy, parenting, grief and loss, family and life transitions, stress management and anxiety reduction, men and women in midlife and spirituality. Shelly is passionate about creating hope and collaborating with clients to effectuate change.

Shelly holds a Masters Degree in Psychology with an Emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy with a Specialization in Postmodern Therapy from Phillips Graduate Institute. She trained at the California Family Counseling Center where she worked with children, high-risk youth, clients in addiction recovery, families, individuals, and couples. Additionally, Shelly is the former Site Director of the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program at Phillips Graduate Institute of Campbellsville University. She is also the former co-director of Clinical Training and Placement at Phillips where she also taught Developmental Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Legal and Ethical Issues, Assessment and Treatment of Children and Adolescents, and Professional Development.

Shelly is an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor and a CAMFT-Certified Supervisor. She provides supervision of supervision to supervisors working toward the additional supervision designation for either organization.


Prior to becoming a therapist, Shelly worked in the legal field as a Certified Legal Assistant. Her extensive background in the field of law has been beneficial to clients in navigating the emotional and psychological challenges associated with various legal matters.
