The Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM) and Community Resiliency Model (CRM) are biologically-based treatment interventions based upon current neuroscience underpinning Somatic therapies. TRM/CRM work with the common physical and emotional responses after a traumatic experience from a biological perspective, and reframes the traumatic experience from shame and pathology to hope and biology. TRM/CRM offer concrete and practical skills that educate victims of trauma about the biological responses of trauma and bring them back to a state of resiliency and wellness. TRM includes wellness skills used for self-care.
Elaine Miller-Karas, LCSW, is the director/co-founder of the Trauma Resource Institute and co-creator of TRM/CRM. Presentations and trainings both here and abroad include the Trauma and Resilience Conference, the 64th Psychotherapy Networker. She wrote Annual Conference on Global Affairs and the Building Resilience to Trauma: The Trauma and Community Resiliency Models (2015). She practices in Claremont, CA.
