Dream Analysis - Jungian Origins and Clinical Application

with Athena Carrillo, MFT, Certified Jungian Psychoanalyst

Dream analysis, originally developed by C.G. Jung, is one of the foundational tools of psychoanalysis and remains widely used in contemporary psychotherapy. It can serve as a means of diagnosis, prognosis, and ongoing treatment support. In Jungian terms, dream analysis fosters the development of consciousness, contributes to psychological transformation, and promotes the integration of the self. It can support both spiritual and psychological healing, including work with trauma and addiction. During this presentation, a dream will be presented and analyzed, with Jungian theory defined and applied throughout.

Educational Goals/Learning Objectives:

Participants will gain an understanding of the basic tenets of Jungian dream analysis and its clinical application in addressing treatment goals, supporting psychological healing, and fostering the development of consciousness.

By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:

  1. Discuss the use of dreams as indicators of prognosis.
  2. Explain different types of dreams and their clinical applications.
  3. Demonstrate how dream analysis can contribute to personality development.
Presenter:
