Effectively Treating the Conflicted Client:
Untangling the Elements of Indecision
Presented by:
Sietze Vanderheide, Psy.D., JD, LMFT
Many clients who come to therapy are frequently unable to effectively make a decision or endure ambivalence. When clients are conflicted, they find themselves paralyzed by indecision and speak of frustration and feeling stuck or trapped. They oscillate between their own competing needs and values, ruminate, make and unmake decisions, act blindly on impulse or force themselves to make a choice. Learn how you can increase a client’s ability to make decisions by expanding frustration tolerance and the capacity for self-reflection by situating and exploring the conflict within the client’s own motivational and value systems.
Sietze Vanderheide
, Psy.D., JD, Licensed
Clinical Psychologist, Collaborative Law Attorney, Divorce Mediator & Licensed MFT, is in private practice in Beverly Hills where he works with adults and couples. He integrates his experience as a psychotherapist, neuropsychologist & attorney to assist clients in resolving conflict, at an intra-psychic as well as interpersonal level. He is a frequent presenter on topics related to emotion and conflict resolution.
